The Times of India reported that the “Gujarat high court on Wednesday issued a notice to co-operative registrar and managing director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), Shri. R S Sodhi, over a petition challenging the legality of the latter’s appointment in the federation.
While board members of GCMMF are divided over the chairmanship of Shri Vipul Chaudhary and the HC has reserved its order on a meeting for a no-confidence motion, Valsad dairy’s chairman Moghabhai Desai has filed this petition. He questions Sodhi’s appointment as well as sought action against him for decisions, which allegedly resulted in losses for the federation’s affiliated unions and milk producers. Desai claimed that complaints against Sodhi were made before higher officials in the state government, but no heed was paid to them. After a preliminary hearing, Justice Ashish Desai issued notices to Sodhi and GCMMF, asking them to reply by December 11, when a further hearing is scheduled.”
